Biography

Thanara is a a second-year EdD student examining the neurobiological foundations of empathy and their implications for the sustainability of school psychology in Ontario. Her work integrates affective and social neuroscience with education and mental health policy to investigate how chronic emotional labor, trauma exposure, and systemic under-resourcing contribute to burnout and workforce shortages among school psychologists. Through this interdisciplinary lens, she aims to identify barriers to recruitment and retention and to inform trauma-responsive, evidence-based workforce design in schools.
